Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed.
When Melanie, one of the few remaining "wild" humans is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.
Wanderer probes Melanie's thoughts, hoping to discover the whereabouts of the remaining human resistance. Instead, Melanie fills Wanderer's mind with visions of the man Melanie loves—Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she has been tasked with exposing. When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.
Attention all Stephenie Meyer fans! We have two copies of The Host (in hard cover!) to give away!
Need a little pick me up till Breaking Dawn is published in August? This is the place to come to :)
All you have to do is to leave a post here. If you are like me, you are probably wondering what is going to happen between Edward and Bella in Breaking Dawn. So, give me your best speculation on how the Twilight series is going to end. I have some ideas myself, but would love to hear yours.
You have till Friday to post.

I don't think Bella's going to go blood sucker. That just doesn't...seem right to me.
I thought maybe someone would die (maybe Edward sacrifices himself to save Bella or something) but that's just too sad. So honestly, I don't know but I can't wait to find out!!!!!
I agree Mollie - doesn't seem right that Edward would do that to Bella, if she might lose her soul - but against that, I think they will be together at the end, which means she has to be a vampire. (Perhaps they find some ancient documents, hidden by the Vatican behind the Mona Lisa, that show vampires are descended from angels.)
I read somewhere that Stephanie Meyer said A Midsummer Night's Dream was one of her inspirations, which sounds very lighthearted. That would seem to suggest Bella gets paired with Jacob for a while, while Edward is with - can't-think-of-any-likely-contenders - someone else. Either that, or Jacob gets imprinted on a donkey, and high jinx ensue.
(I want Bella to be with Jacob, but I'm certain that won't happen. Has Jacob met all the Cullens? I've only read the books once, and I'm not good at detail. If he got imprinted on a vampire, that could be nearly as much fun as the donkey...)
As I've said many a time, I don't read YA... ever. Doesn't matter that books like Harry Potter or Twilight are universally loved, I read to escape my houseful of teens, not READ about them. GAK!
So I was happy to see that, with The Host, Stephanie Myers has written something that allows me to FINALLY enjoy her voice, too. At least I hope so, anyway, because it most certainly sounds intriguing. So, yes PLEASE enter me. PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE!
As much as I wish Bella would end up with Jacob, I can't see that happening. I'm definitely on team Jacob LOL!
Can't wait to find out!
I still actually need to get around to reading Twilight and the following books.... *whistles*
Hmm...what if you haven't even read Twilight yet but you're planning on it real soon?
OMG Nonny!! The Twilight series is like my crack addiction to Jr Ward's BDB series. Once you start reading you will not want to start.
I want Breaking Dawn noooowwww....
But of course I will settle for The Host at this moment. :D
Hangs head.. I have her YA in my TBR pile.
I'm halfway through Eclipse now, but I just wanted to say that I love HEAs, so I really want Bella to end up with Edward. Whether they are both vampires or not is pretty irrelevant to me. I just want a happy, non-tragic, non-sacrificial ending. It would seem like a waste (for me anyway) if they went through four books worth of trouble and couldn't or wouldn't be together. That would be too much like real life.
And by the way, I can't wait for the twilight movie to come out! I really love the Edward/Bella casting.
I'm interested to see what SM does with an adult book ... I read Twilight but couldn't even finish New Moon. Guess I'm too old for YA books these days (probably the same reason I couldn't get thru the Harry Potter series either). Still, love the HP movies so hopefully Twilight on the big screen will work for me better than the books did.

I have recently been turned (heh) to the Twilight series and I'm loving myself sick! Although, I wish Bella wasn't ******spoiler******* in love with Jacob. It would have been way more interesting if she liked him as a friend, but couldn't let him go... *sigh* Oh well! Am really looking forward to reading The Host as well!
I think Bella is going to turn bloodsucker but not because Edward turns her, I think the bad guys are going to turn her and Edward's going to try to avenge her and then they're going to live happily ever after.
Given that it is YA, I don't think Edward will turn Bella, but I agree that there needs to be a HEA so I think that they will find an out clause so that Edward can change back and then live HEA.
And I hope that Jacob gets to find someone to love him back too! Go Team Jacob!
No - how can there be so much Jacob love?? Just kidding. :) I think Jacob has some growing up to do, but I would like to see him imprinting on his own heroine. Not Bella.
I will really scream if there is a sad/tragic ending but it is a YA series so I don't THINK she would go down this route. I hope Bella is turned into a vampire because they will still have the immortal/mortal issue if she doesn't - so for me an ending where Bella is still human would be bittersweet. Definitely not a happy ending. :( And not to mention he can't be with her fully without being extremely careful of his strength.
On the other hand, I get why Edward thinks he'll lose his soul turning her. And why he thinks she'll later regret it. But Bella better not get cosy with Jacob in BD! So I really have no idea how she's going to end it. I need Breaking Dawn now!!
I don't think Bella will end up with Jacob because she is not his imprinted mate or something like that. What I think will happen, and it is a bit sad is that Edward and Bella will get married, have fade to black sex because well this is a YA. Something will happen before Edward can change Bella and more vampire battles will ensue where Edward must sacrifce himself for Bella and he will die.
Why am I so tragic, well didn't Meyer say her Twilight series is a bit based on Wuthering Heights? We all know how that book ends.
I am with Bev, I don't read YA, but having heard all this talk about the Twilight series I am sorely tempted. I happen to be a sucker for love triangles (Lost is a great example)!
KB - that's horrible! Think happy thoughts, my friend!!!
I am MOST definitely Team Edward! I think/hope that Jacob will find him imprinted mate even though he feels that Bella is it.
Oh and I already have The Host KB so don't put me in the drawing! :)
Oh! I so want to read this book. I have not read a single one of her stories. I know, I know. I am so far behind. I have so much catching up to do this summer!
Um she's going to realize that she loves blood and hates Edward and she shall leave him and grow a backbone finding another lover?
No?
Or maybe he will have to kill her?
NO?
Oh well in that case I'm going with they shall live the perfect HEA?
No?
IDK Either way I must know
I've only read Twilight, the first of the series, but I really enjoyed it. It actually stayed with me a LONG time after I finished it, which I did not expect. Based on only reading the first book, i'm wondering if maybe the only way to save Bella's life would be if Edward had to turn her into a vampire. I guess that's cliche, but I only have the first book to go on at this point. :)
I just finished Eclipse and I think Bella and Edward are going to end up together. However I would like to see additional books about Jacob and his future mate.
I initially picked up Twilight due to some online reviews and loved it. Since I've passed it around to all of my teenage neices, who are now hounding me for books 2 and 3.
:D
I haven't read the The Twilight books yet but I did just order Twilight the other day! I hear too many great things about them, it's time I read em!!
