Two Books To Keep Your Eye On

The awesome Mary Kate from Adventures in Katidom (who I forgive for stealing Roarke from me) noticed this new book by Marjorie M. Liu. She wanted to know more information about it, and I have delivered!

THE IRON HUNT (July 08):
"Silver smoke winds around my torso, peeling away from my ribs and back, stealing the dark mist covering my hands and lower extremities…tattoos dissolving into demon flesh, coalescing into small dark bodies. My boys. The only friends I have in this world. Demons.

I am a demon hunter. I am a demon. I am Hunter Kiss."

By day, her tattoos are her armor. By night, they unwind from her body to take on forms of their own. Demons of the flesh, turned into flesh. This is the only family demon hunter Maxine Kiss has ever known. The only way to live—and the very way she’ll die. For one day, her demons will abandon her for her daughter to assure their own survival—leaving Maxine helpless against her enemies

But such is the way of Earth’s last protector—the only one standing between humanity and the demons breaking out from behind the prison veils. It is a life lacking in love, reveling in death, until one moment—and one man—changes everything…

**The cover is very eye catching. I have never read Marjorie's books before. Should this be the first one I read by her?

And coming in November from Shannon McKenna:
ULTIMATE WEAPON:
Tamara’s a bad girl with a dangerous difference. Enter a terrifying, sexually charged world of thrilling suspense, where love is the riskiest game of all…

Covert operations are what Val Janos is all about. The man is mysterious and sinister, and lethally hot. Only Tamara can understand the strange intensity that drives him to win at all costs—and only she can match it.

Val has one weak spot: Imre, the frail old man who befriended him when he was a scared, hungry kid abandoned on the streets of Budapest. But Daddy Novak knows about Imre, and Imre's head is on the block if Val doesn't deliver Tam up to Novak's tender mercies…
A white-hot passion explodes when Tam and Val get too close. They both have too much to be afraid of, too much to hide. And now, for the first time, too much to lose…

**Finally bad girl Tamara gets her own story! I have been waiting years ever since this character was introduced. Can't wait!

You only forgive me for stealing Roarke because I gave him to you for your birthday.

I am really looking forward to the Liu book. First, as you said, the cover is really eye catching. Plus, I find it interesting that it's being published by the Ace imprint. Mostly because I associate them very strongly with fantasy/UF (Mercy Thompson, and Alpha & Omega series by Patty Briggs). So I'm really anticipating reading this one. I love Marjorie's voice, although I've kind of fallen out of love with her Dirk & Steele series.

Thanks for the shout out!

Katie, this character was introduced in one of the anthologies MML did. I found it innovative and intriguing. I don't think reading this as your first MML will hurt you one little bit.

MML is an auto buy for me. I adore her writing style and books. If you do happen to enjoy this one, I strongly suggest reading all the others she has. They're all their own stories but interconnected.

katie(babs), I'm very anal about reading series books in order, so if you ask me I'd naturally say to start on book one.

In this case, the prequel is a novella in the Wild Thing anthology.

I just finish Extreme Danger (I think that was Ms. McKenna's last book.) I am still trying to figure out how to write up the review. I did not like it. I loved Behind Closed Doors. Super hot! Extreme Danger was just too much sex, not enough romance for me. Also, the hero does something towards the end that I just can't see the heroine forgiving. Just...no. Tam might tempt me, though.

If you end up liking Iron Hunt, then you should end up liking her Dirk & Steele books. I recommend starting those books at the beginning. :) Tiger Eye is very intriguing. :)

I bought The Darkest Pleasure by Gena Showalter, Night Keepers by Jessica Andersen, and this one. Very excited! :)

This one showed up on my Amazon you-might-like list, but I hesitated to buy because last couple of D&S left me unsatisfied. Though Tiger Eye was fab... Hmmmm... HARI no need for more words than that!
