Dancing With The Stars

I haven't watched American Idol. Now that Rob and Amber are gone, I think I'm done with The Amazing Race and I have class the same night as Survivor. So my reality TV show of choice this season will be Dancing with the Stars. And it 's not because it has the best eye candy. Nope that's not it. Really. It isn't!

So - I watched the first episode tonight and here are my thoughts.

Billy Ray Cyrus did awful. But now that the mullet is gone, he is kind of cute. Not that I noticed or anything. Nope - I didn't. Notice that is.

The first one to go me thinks should be Leeza Gibbons. I didn't think she did that good.

Someone who really surprised me was Laila Ali! She and her partner Max were pretty darned good. And not that I noticed her partner Max is adorable. Nope, didn't notice that either.

Another star who I thought was not to shabby was Joey Fatone.
Now I never really listened to NSYNC so he is a bit of a mystery.
And it is nice that his partner is Kym Johnstone who got paired with Jerry Springer last season.

But for me, the winner tonight was Apolo Anton Ohno.
Not that I noticed what a cutie he was. Can't say as I noticed that.

And last but not least, even though I favour Paul - he was always the cutest Beatle, Heather Mills did pretty good.

And finally, in case you're wondering, no, I didn't notice Alec Marco and how sexy he was. Did not pay attention at all I'm afraid.

'til later

I agree with you bout all of your picks and pans. I especially think Apolo shows lotsa promise and he sure is a cutie patootie! My second pick is Joey Fatone from Nsync. But I think he has an unfair advantage as he is used to learning choreography and such.

I may have to start watching this.

I loved this program the first season. I haven't been able to get into it since. This is an interesting group though.

Hi Kristie:
I missed Billy Rae.......hmmmmmmm
I didn't notice how cute the guys were either *grin.
Also thought Laila Ali was very good. Ian Zehring, was pretty good as well, he's from the 90210 bunch, not that I got involved in that.
Will be a good Monday night show me thinks.

Janice: Well, while I thought Billy is pretty darn cute, he danced what looked like a country hoedown when he was supposed to be dancing a tango. And I'm not sure - not being a big country fan, but I think he and his partner also danced to a song he sang. Something tells me that his partner isn't going to have as easy a time teaching him as she did Mario last season. I missed Ian's dance, and because I'm shallow, he kind of annoys me with the rather peculiar way he pronounces his name, so I have to withdraw comments on his performance.

Rosie: I only started watching it last season. I still laugh at the thought of trying to get Ron to watch Dancing with the Stars for the previous seasons. I know it's still to early to tell, but I'm not sure if anyone this season will be quite as good as Emmit and Mario from last season.

Tara: I didn't think I'd like it when I first started watching it, but it's hard not to have one reality show to watch. And although Tom Bergeron is *shudder* horrid as the host, it's not a bad show. The dancing is pretty good - well - with the possible exception of Billy Rae Cyrus' hoe down dance. But then he made up for it in other *wink* areas.

Giselle: You know who really drove me nuts? The former Miss America. It seemed like she was giving her Miss America total teeth smile the whole dance. Her face must have been aching after she was done. Nobody smiles that hard that long - well - except Miss Americas

I too am boycotting The Amazing Race. I was sooooooooooooo upset that Rob and Amber were eliminated!

I wanted to watch DWTS but missed it. How was Ian Zeiring (from 90210) and Cheryl Burke?

Okay, I'm such an Amazing Race fangirl that having Kentucky and then Rob and Amber knocked off was not enough to make me stop - I get so worked up for the teams and it's probably the only exercise my heart gets ;)

I have watched parts of Dancing With the Stars but I would prefer if the whole show was about dancing and then voting - I find there is a lot of down time in between dancing and not only that, I don't do well listening to the critiques even though watching Billy Cyrus dance was painful - I only caught a few seconds of him and thought it was enough ;)

I heard that Heather Mills (is that right) did really well considering she has a fake leg.

I hope the new season gets here, soon. I just finished watching an older season... no idea which one it was, but it was the one with the blonde woman wrestler with the looooong legs, who danced wonderfully? Stacey something, I think.

Anyway, I love the show, and the American version is great. I've seen the Spanish version and they don't dance nearly as well, and the Argentinian version sucks, because it's all about contestants and the judges brawling over the critiques.

Oh no! I forgot to record the first episode. I'm going to have to start back up again (work on Monday nights). I'm a huge Amazing Race fan, and will keep watching, but was really, really upset that Rob and Amber were eliminated.
