My theory works again!!!!

I happened to glance further into one of my closets last night and spied a bag. When I opened it up -Ta Da!!!! It was filled with books, many of them (including To Die For) the books that were missing. I think I still must have another bag someplace else since this one didn't have all the missing books. But it just proved that as long as I don't look too hard and stress about it too much - whatever is missing will show up.
Now of course this theory works only for people like me who are pack rats by nature. Before I throw anything out, I double check and triple check to see if I'm never, ever going to use it again. I also do this when I turn in books to UBS's. I often end up turning in only half the books I set off with.

Speaking of UBS's - hmm I think I might make me a trip to one today. I have quite a few :)
Only problem is, I seem to have hit a slump again after my recent binge. *sigh*

And I wonder why it is that even though we have tons of books TBR (such as 2 three door plastic cabinets and a bin full) the quest for even more becomes uncontrollable until we run out the door half crazed in search of more????????

'til later

Glad you found the books. Oh and I know what you mean. I've always hated having a TBR but I can't help myself. Ugh. The worse is that I keep buying. You'd think I already HAD something to read. LOL.

Oh and check your email. I send you something. LOL.

LOL @ your theory. I've been anxious to go to the bookstore for the past week (payday today, woohoo!) but I really don't need any more books.

I keep telling myself that, but it doesn't always work. :P

I know, you'd think that since you already HAVE books to read at home that you wouldn't feel compelled to buy any more books, but for some odd reason, I can't help myself, and I always buy books that catch my eye and never books that are in my TBB list.

*shakes head*

I'm glad you found your books though and your theory cracks me up, you're so cute!

Yay! So glad you found some of your missing books! I also find books in the strangest places in my house...

Glad you found your books. If I can't find something it drives me crazy until I find it, I can't go on with my life if I don't find it. I like your theory, I think I'll give it try.

If I lose a book, it usually means I really don't like it. If I love the book I am reading it is attached at the hip!

What a relief...I can't wait to tell the guy I live with. There IS someone with more books in her TBR than I have! : )

I'm glad you found your books. The others will turn up when they are supposed to. Which is probably why your theory works.

Kristie, have you read Kresley Cole's new Valkyrie series? The first one is part of an anthology, Playing Easy to Get, and the second one is a full length book, A Hunger Like No Other. The stories are kind of retro, and not really deep, but I've found them to be addictively fun reading. I think you might like them, if you haven't already tried them (I have it on good authority that this series is much better written than her earlier books, which I have not read). Now I'm waiting for the new one to come out next month or November.

So glad you found some of your books ~ and I'm sure you'll find the rest somewhere.

It's a sickness, it really is. I don't know how many books are truly in my tbr because I keep getting more. Tonight at the library, I got 5 books free at the Friends-of-the-Library give-away, I bought 2 books from the F-O-T-L shelves, and I checked out 6 more. Of course, I already had 30 checked out.

Why?!

Devonna: It's because we have this addiction that we don't want cured :) And what a score on 5 free books!!! And all the others too!

Robin: Hey there! I have read AHLNO. Although I had a few issues with it - the heroine drove me a bit nutty - I liked it more than enough to keep reading the next ones. I still have to get the short story. I have another one of her older ones in my (still missing but I'm an optimist)TBR pile.

Rosie: Exactly!! That's why although it's a bit frustrating, I know they show up when it's time.

Nikki: When I'm reading a good book I carry it around from room to room too. The problem arises when I suddenly go into another room without it and then can't remember where I left it.

Lori: I swear sometimes they multiply at night. I know I've found some in odd places and can't for the life of me remember buying it.

Lisa: sometimes it pays to be a bit on the scatter brained side :)

Dylan: it is of great comfort to me to know that so many other readers suffer from the same thing - that need to always get more books

Ames: *chuckle* of course we buy books when we really don't need them. That's why the acronym TBR is so widely known.

Mailyn: it's a love/hate relationship we have with our TBR piles isn't it. On the one hand it's frustrating that we can't read them all, on the other we can't help but increase it!

I am glad that you found your books. It always frustrates me when I cannot find them. But the first place I look is where my kids have been because they like to take my books and pretend to read them (they are 4 and 2) then they leave them in various places.
