"How can you fail at a meme?"

The Voice asked increduously.

"I don't know" Kristie (J) wailed. "But I did, I am. Gonna fail that is. But I got tagged by Holly and I have to do it."

"But it's a simple one. It's about music. You love music."

"I know" came the sad reply. "But I haven't been listening to it much lately. And I'm not sure what a play list is. Is it like music you have on one of those IPod things? Because I don't have one of those. I'm even more scared of them than I am of cell phones. And that's embarrasing to admit. I had to use my sisters cell the other day when we were out in the store. And I didn't even know how to turn it on. I had to ask Lisa. And everyone around me was looking at me funny when I did that. They must have been wondering how could anyone be so dumb and probably they were all probably laughing."

"There, there" The Voice soothed. "I'm sure there are other people out there who are afraid of cell phones and IPods and other newer technical equipment."

"You think so?" Kristie(J) asked hopefully.

"Of course" The Voice answered, but inwardly thinking "not!" "But just answer ten songs you really like".

"But most of them are older songs, a lot from the 80's" replied Kristie(J)

"That's OK, 80's is good."

"I don't know if I can name 10 songs".

"Just do what you can then." came the reply.

"Alright" Kristie(J) sighed. "I'll try".

Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi
Wicked Games by Chris Issak
Anything by Great Big Sea - I saw them you know. Twice now.
Orinoco Flow by Enya
Runnin' Down a Dream by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (that's the one Krisite runs to with her lean mean body, blond hair flowing in the breeze, her feet pounding to the music)
The Highwayman by Loreena McKennit
The soundtrack from Pirates of the Caribbean - The Black Pearl
I Wanna Know What Love Is by Foreigner
All Souls Night by Loreena McKennit
Film Cuts by The Chieftans - a compilation of soundtracks from various movies including Far and Away and Roby Roy

"Well, I got 10 in" Kristie(J) said with a sigh. "But it's a very odd list. And everyone will think I'm odd."

"That's OK" replied The Voice
"You are odd!"

'til later

Kristie-LOL! Hey, it's not THAT odd of a list. :) I love Loreena McKennitt, so you're good. :)

My top 10 are so vast and varied that I'd be afraid to do it. LOL! I'd be the weird one of the group.

I hope you are doing well. Life is going in fits and spurts for me...like usual. I applied for a different position at the place I already work, so I'm hoping that goes through. Eep! I hate trying to get a job. It's so depressing.

Well Sweets, if you're odd then so am I because I actually knew all the music and now they are playing in my head.

Have you heard the theme music to Last of the Mohicans? How about BackDraft (awesome musical score!)? If you don't own these soundtracks then I don't think you can call yourself odd ;)

I once asked for a CD of Gregorian Chants - I thought there would be music but it is just chanting.

I'm afraid of an IPOD and I'm always calling Bob's little Blackberry a Blueberry or a Raspberry. And I LOVE technology - I just don't know the difference between these ipods and shuffles and why one is so much more than another and the store people sigh and give me way more info than I need soooo, not so much on the ipod. However, if someone was to get me one for a gift...

It's a great list Kristie. After this week I'm gonna have to make a full 80s playlist...this is crazy!

And Cindy, Linc has a blueberry too, which I"m afrad of, but recently while waiting for a table at Olive Garden he showed me that I can check my e-mail account. BIG MISTAKE!

Adios,
Fiona

Great list! It wasn't so hard, eh?

I haven't listened to Great Big Sea in years - not since their second CD. Love those old ones though.

Although not one, not. one., of the songs you listed sounded familiar, I was highly amused by the preceding dialogue :)

Jay: I figured you'd get a laugh out of the cell phone thing - and it's true! It really happened! I couldn't even figure out how to get the phone out of the pouch - little lone get it turned on. Then I had to ask how to get it to send - etc, etc etc. And it is a rather eclectic group :)

Valeen: You must listen to some of their new songs. They are such a fun group! And I've seen them twice!

Alyssa: Isn't she great!! She has a bunch of songs I love. Lady of Shallot is another one - but The Highwayman just gets me all teary eyed every time I hear it.

Mailyn: I just love those two. I get in the car and put on Bed of Roses, turn it up real loud so I can't hear - and sing along. And Wicked Games is just so wickedly sexy isn't it?

Fionna: - I think it's a blackberry :) although I know I'm never going to get one! They scare me too.

Cindy: I have (well sort of) the soundtrack to LOTM. It's on cassette and it got all mangled. I'm trying to find it on CD. I haven't heard the Back Draft one (haven't even seen the movie). I love soundtrack CD's. I have a whole pile of them

Sybil: how comforting to see that neither you or Alyssa have them either. I guess I am not alone!

Kaitlin: Like I said to Alyssa - she's wonderful. And I saw her too! Only once though. And good luck with the job!!! I'm going to have to check in with you and see how it goes. And I'm doing.

Kristie .... you're not gonna believe this, but I adore Loreena too! I like Enya too, and of the 10 you listed, except for Great Big Sea, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, I like them all.

The Highwayman came riding, riding, riding ...

p.s. Loreena's Marco Polo and Dante's Prayer are my next two faves.
