Those old Bouncing Book Blues

*sigh*

While I wouldn't call it a slump exactly, and I wouldn't call it the "it's not you, it's me" syndrome, I have another symptom that's felled me which I've decided to call that old Bouncing Book Blues. You see, I read every sub genre in romance pretty much these days. I started out with Historicals, then moved onto Medieval, Futuristics and Westerns. Time Travel and Ghost romance were also genres I took to. The my world opened up further and I took up reading Contemporaries, then branched into Romantic Suspense.
Next trend I tried and enjoyed for the most part was Paranormal. And most recently Urban Fantasy has grabbed my attention. I'm not sure whether to lump Science Fiction romance as Futuristics or not - but I like them both.
Now with so many genres on the go, I'm having a tough time figuring out which one I'm in the mood for anymore. I picked up a Historical not long ago and I could tell right away I wasn't in the mood for it. Then I tried a Western - same thing. Ditto with Paranormal. I just read an Urban Fantasy I thought was great and now I have to figure out which genre I'm in the mood for now.
And I can't figure it out!! It's kind of like when you're really in the mood for junk food but you don't know if you want a chocolate bar, a bag of chips, some pretzels or a nice plate of fries. They are all good - but unless you figure out the one you need, you keep bouncing from junk food to junk food.
I need to find my romance fix - and soon!!

Wow, I've been going through the same thing! Not only do I love a wide variety of romance sub-genres, but also all genres in geveral. I just finished the first Dresden Files book for a book club (which was an awesome book, BTW) I usually read at least 2 books at a time that are in completely different genres to keep things interesting- right now it's a contemporary (Hot by Julia Harper) and a historical (The Perils of Pleasure) by Julie Ann Long. Both books are good, but I keep looking longingly at my paranormal TBR pile and also my new Maureen McKade "A Reason To" books (thanks to this blog!) I've yet to read a Western historical romance so I'm really curious & excited. I'm determind to finish one of these first though, even though my reading mood seems to be all over the place... Oh well, it's still a nice problem to have :) I love books so much even the "problems" related to them are great! Or maybe I just need help?

I am reading so many genres at this moment, I don't know which way is up. LOL.
How is it possible for a person to read 4 books at the same time? Well, that person is me!
I am reading a Paranormal Romance, a category romance, a chick lit fiction book and a urban fantasy with a touch of romance.

I am just like mos stef I read two books of different genres just to keep me in the mood. *winks*
Right now I am reading Demon Angel and The Winter Rose (historical epic in nature romance novel)
Side note: The Tea Rose was the BEST DAMN BOOK I have read in a long time (Historical romance) WOW what a HEA to die for.
Okay sidenote over: I hope you get through it. It sucks figuring out what you want to read next. I usually face the "I have so many great books to read i don't know which one I have to read next" syndrome ;0)

Grimspace by Ann Aguirre--try it, woman!

Or, if it's something shorter, go get Ann Bruce's Rules of Engagement.

Mos stef: *chuckling* I have about five or six books on the go right now - you should try lifting my purse!! I had to go out the other day and buy a bigger one to hold them all. I've got a RS, Harlequin, romantica or two, historical, parnanormal and Sci Fi romance all going. And it is one of the better problems isn't it? Much better than a slump!!

Katie: you and me both!! *g*

Sarai: I think I'm just going to have to battle my way through - just stick with one to the end. I *laughing* just don't know what that one is at the moment.

Azteclady: I have that one now too!! But with so many on the go, it's going to have to way a bit *sigh*.

Kristie, do you ever read young adult fiction? I read your comment about the Fae in Kate's Frost interview and I immediately thought of WICKED LOVELY by Melissa Marr. You can probably find it in the library.

When I get like that it's usually a call to break out of the genre for a while and pick up something totally different. Horror or some honest to gawd lit-ruh-ture.

Ya know what though, I haven't read a good Western in a loooong time. Are there any new ones out lately?
