I`m just about done in. My feet are looking and feeling like watermelons. The book signings are over, my books are shipped and Wendy and Barbara are off shipping off the rest of their books. I have a few minutes alone here and really should be sitting with my feet up in hopes the swelling goes down. AnimeJune has gone to pack the last of her books before shipping them off.
The RITAS are still to come and then there is a blogger party after they are finished and hopefully have some food.
Right now I have so much to say but the brain has almost died. You can`t really put in words what the experience is like. It`s go, go, go from morning until night. The day starts around 7:00 am and ends between midnight and 2:00 am. By the third day you are running on adrenalin, By this time even the adrenalin is starting to wear off and as great a time as you are having, as incredible it is to interact with so many people whose passion in life is romance, whether it be an author or a reader, home is sounding pretty darn good. Many are missing family and loved ones. So here are some random moments and thoughts probably a bit scattered and in no particular order.
I will be posting some YouTube videos of Nico from SYTYCD Canada. I had a wonderful discussion with Julie James, who is even more beautiful in person then in her pictures, last night and she is a big fan of the show but she hasn`t seen the Canadian version. She was saying she loves a masculine, hunky dancer and who fits that description better then Nico.
Barbara and I were sitting beside Elizabeth Hoyt and Jade Lee at breakfast - second breakfast for me, and Elizabeth and Jade were talking. I`m supposed to tell everyone that Elizabeth mocked Jade. *huge grin* So here it is.
Beth Williamson commented on Wendy's blog that she would give me a copy of the book I didn't get and when I ran into her at the Samhain party, hosted by Angela James, she said it again and invited me to her room and personally autographed it for me!
I have a girl crush on Lisabea!!
Listening to Eloisa James' inspiring talking at the Awards Luncheon.
My most fangirlish moment came this morning when I had CS Harris sign a copy of When Serpents Sleep at the NAL signing. Now if your memory is good, you may recall that she was my author of the month spotlight as Candice Proctor. I told her how much I loved those books she said that she missed writing romance. Which of course led to me asking if she would ever write historical romance again. She said she might if the market ever swings more away from paranormal and back to historical romance. *fist pump* Let's hope!
I probably won't be the only one mentioning this, but the publisher signings this year were a disaster at some of them. Berkley, Ballantine and St. Martins were very lax in providing books. They ran out at all three and after standing in line for more then half an hour, I was not impressed to see zero books at the author's table. The earlier signings didn't seem to have this issue. Also I found it most annoying when people in line decided to ask an author about all their books and storylines. There are lots of people waiting people.
Well - after this short break, I'm on the move again - have to get ready for the award show.
'til later

Sounds like great fun indeed, but yeah, I get why you'd be tired and exhausted! :)
I can't believe you're shipping books home... I would be too worried! but then, I don't know what's more risky, shipping books home or checking the luggages with all your books? :P Hmmm...
Oh wow, you got to meet Candice Proctor? :P Great! LOL :)
and awww, that sucks to hear that some of the publisher signings were not very well organized :(
Cool about the authors you met. Not so cool about the lack of books- some of my fave authors are from those lines. Have fun at the awards show. Some of my faves are up like Jill Shalvis, Susan Mallery, Cherry Adair & Cindy Gerard. Have a safe trip home.
I'm not surprised you have sore feet if it's non-stop from 7AM-2AM! Sounds like an amazing conference though! And you got to meet CS Harris? I'm such a fan of her Sebastian St Cyr series!
Have a safe trip home :)
Aw, you met Jade Lee? I'm so jealous! I love her books.
What a wonderful post Kristie!
I think you have summed up your trip to the RWA beautifully...
"Freaking Awesome"... I'll look forward to reading more of your news.
Best

I am so excited to see these pictures... So glad we got a chance to meet in person and to discuss all things related to SYTYCD! I had such a blast hanging out with you and the other girls that night!
Best,
Julie
We all have a girl crush on Lisabea. It's a known fact.
