Assorted *updated*

This is a mish mash of links and stuff

First off - once again, be sure to visit Orianna to s
ee what she is up to.

And here are a couple more thoughts on Broken Wing.

First from Apprentice Writer. She emailed me a while ago and I apologize for taking so long to recognize her review. But - she really enjoyed it.

And next from Renee of Renee Read Romance wh
o checks in with her thoughts. We share very similar thoughts on a lot of books and I've been waiting to see what she thought of this one!!!!!

And now for the other book I can't say enough about. Les
lie of Leslie's Psyche is having a contest for a chance to win a copy of The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie. Be sure to visit and enter 'cause this is one heck of a wonderfully, fabulous book!!

And finally - Happy Mothers Day to all the moms.

Today is mothers day and the boys (though at 30 and 28 they aren’t really boys anymore) are taking their mama out for dinner. In honour of Mother’s Day and to show why they make me laugh, here’s a recent conversation I had with Ryan. Keep in mind neither are married and neither (at least at the moment) have serious girlfriends – much to my dismay. When we stopped at two kids, I resigned myself to the fact that I’d have to wait for a daughter-in-law for the daughter I wanted. So far they aren’t cooperating in this long held plan)

Ryan was telling me how he’s seeing two women at the moment – one a ‘party’ girl who is only interested in playing – if you get my drift - and one who doesn’t want to meet his mother; the other a nice girl who is interested in establishing a relationship with a future. He was saying that he’s going to have to make up his mind very soon as it wasn’t fair to them to have two (um – ya think?) on the string. Girl two is the kind you would bring home to Mama – guess which one I’m routing for? Neither of them live in our city so I was curious……

Mama: So, how did you meet them?

Ryan: On e-harmony

Mama: (who is cheap) Don’t you have to pay for that?

Ryan: Yeah, it cost about $60.

Me: So um, how exactly does it work?

Ryan: (with much suspicion in his voice): Why? You’re not thinking of signing up are you?

Mama: Well, it might be nice to meet someone who I could go out for dinner with and to the occasional show – that kind of thing.

Ryan: Don’t you have girlfriends you can do that kind of thing with??

Mama: Well, yeah – I do, but it’s not really the same thing.

Ryan: If you say another word, just one more word, I’m leaving and not coming back!! Besides, I thought you got over that kind of thing when you were in your fifties.

Mama: (howling inside because after three years ‘this kind of thing’ is alive and kicking – if you know what I mean) Well, let me just tell you Ryan, remember this conversation and when you hit your fifties, tell me if you are ‘over it’

(I think he won't be - heh heh heh)

Update

It seems that despite thinking his Mama shouldn't need a sex life, he got me a Mother's Day gift that made me laugh (and laugh and laugh)

Yes, this is what he got me.

Kristie, I so had to laugh!

A friend of mine also uses eHarmony (I think it's eHarmony) and she's really happy with it. She hasn't met Mr Right but she's been on some nice dates.

If you feel ready, go for it!!!

Hurray for boys!

When I read this, I feel maternal to your boys and I'm only 6/8 years older! Maybe it's cos I've got 2 boys too...

You have a wonderful meal out with your "boys" Kristie!

Happy Mother's day to you.

Warm regards

Happy Mother's Day Kristie! Enjoy your dinner with the boys :)

And that conversation cracked me up!

I can't believe Renee has read Broken Wing so quickly! WOW! That's fantastic! *off to read Renee's review and enter Leslie's contest*

Kristie, that conversation is just too funny! Right now, I am so not there with my 15 year old son - I'm glad he hasn't seemed to have even discovered girls yet!

Happy Mother's Day!

Ms. Moonlight: I have some of the funniest ones with Ryan. He may not think of them as funny - but I certainly do!

Sarah: I did sign up with one for widows and widowers but I think I must have done something wrong because the matches they send are all in London ENGLAND and thats kind of far to go to meet for a coffee. If I do sign up at E Harmony, I think I'll keep from telling Ryan for a while *g*

Tumperkin: On the one hand, I think they would both be happy for me if I were to meet someone some day, on the other hand the thought of their mother having sex freaks them out something fierce, which for some reason cracks me up.

Lea: It was an early one - but it was a good one. I do so love my sons.

Orannia: *laughing* I think you are getting the Renee's mixed up. Renee 1 on the sidebar has had this one for a while and I think she read it a while ago but just got around to posting her review recently.

Julie: I've had some 'interesting' conversations with both of them about girls and sex. I almost always take the girls side and the do and say some real bonehead things. Despite my invaluable advice - they still don't understand women.

What a great gift!

Hmmm, though - my paternal grandmother always wanted daughters but had two boys instead. She wanted her perfect daughter in law to be the obedient Baptist daughter she never had.

She got a Catholic feminist daughter in law intead, who subsequently was referred to as "that woman" for years. Oh well. *lol* Careful what you wish for.

The fact that he knows what to get you? Priceless!

And yeah, you gotta get him a recording of his saying that after hitting one's fifties one gives up "those things"

Hi Kristie!

Ryan sounds so sweet, a little protective of his mama. What a good Mom's Day gift! I asked for book money, hubs got me clothes instead. Think I can trade them in?
