Isn't he a sweetheart? Well, they both are.

I'm referring to my youngest son. He sent me an email yesterday. Apparently a little while ago, one of his coworkers was asking how his mom (that would be me) was doing. He told her about the 'library' Lisa and I built, that it was filled with romance books (that would have been an interesting conversation) and that I'm taking a creative writing course. His coworker sent him an email about a one day seminar they are holding here in the city about writing and revising and getting published. I think I'll take that too.
To be honest, I wasn't sure how much he was taking in of what's going on with me so I was tickled when I got his email. He also bought me a Nora Roberts a couple of weeks ago - just because. And it was one I didn't have.
He's the accountant of the two. He's known since he was 4 years old what he wanted to do. At age 4 he was better in math than I was. He's got his eye set on being the CEO of the company he works for and I can see him doing it. They are paying for his university education so he is taking that on-line as well as being the head of the finance department and he's only 26! I think he's a changeling.
Now my oldest son is my Peter Pan. I love him just as dearly but I think when he hit about 14 he just kind of stopped growing up. I look at him sometimes after he's said something a 14 year old would think and just shake my head. I think he's a changeling too. Although I am sitting here listening to the newest Loreena McKennit CD which just came out that I bought tonight using a HMV gift certificate he gave me.

And in an entirely different vein, why oh why can't publishers just stop publishing books? Just for one month. Just one. I was at Walmart tonight buying cat food for the Princess when I just happened to check out their rather good book department. Darn them anyway! Of course I couldn't get out of there without buying more. And none of these were even on My List!

Lord Grenville's Captive by Nicola Cornick.
This one looks interesting. I think it take's place during the Civil War in England between the English Civil War.

Her Lone Protector by Pam Crooks.
Yea! A Western. And Sybil has these ones too. And is it just me or is he popping up EVERYWHERE as a cover model?

Erinsong by Diana Groe.
A Viking romance - interesting and not your average historical. Her last one got very good reviews (and is still sitting in my TBR pile *sigh*)

Anyone But You by Jennifer Crusie.
I was delighted to find this one as it's one of hers I haven't read.

So now you're probably wondering why I didn't get them at Chapters and use my gift card to see if I won $1,000. Well - Walmart has them on for 25% off and Chapters for 10%. So if I see the books at Walmart, they have the better price. Darn them anyway.

I didn't know that Anyone But You was out in paper! I'll have to get that.

Sounds like you're a really lucky mom!

Your sons sound like sweethearts, Kristie. You are a lucky mom :)

Looks like you got some good finds! My Walmart never seems to have the books I want, I don't know why. Maybe they're just gone by the time I get there. After all, it's all the way across town (6 whole miles from home *g*), so I don't get there too often.

It sounds like you've raised good boys, even your Peter Pan, some man never grow past 14, yet still manage to function as good people. Mom you did a good job.

Erinsong has a gorgeous cover! LOL at your Peter Pan son, too funny, I've had my share of bf that are like that. In fact, I think most men stop growing at 14. Your youngest is too cute! It's been my experience that most sons don't know what the hell goes on with their moms so that's always nice to hear.

I saw 'anyone but you' at Shoppers Drug mart yesterday but thought I'd go see if Walmart has it :-)
I do the same thing as you with respect to Walmart/Chapters.

And yes, that was very sweet of your son!

Kristie I laughed at the Peter Pan comment. I call my oldest Peter Pan all the time...he's 20. A heart of gold, but a dreamer and a kid at heart. Enjoy your books!

Jennie: It escapes me at the moment, but a blogger reviewed this one not too long ago and as I was reading it, I realized I hadn't read this one. So I was delighted when I saw it last night. It has one of my favourite themes! Younger guy/Older woman.

Kris: I swear Walmart has gotten more unplanned money out of me than any other store. And in particular - the book department. That 25% off price is SO hard to resist isn't it.

Lori: I know some Walmarts have real crappy book departments. I was in one not to long ago much further away and their book department was horrid! Nothing in romance but Harlequin. So I'm lucky the one near me is so good!

Tara: Thanks! But much of the credit also goes to Ron. They've both been telling me what a great role model he was for them. And scarily - the Peter Pan son is most like me, although I don't consider myself a Peter Pan type *g*

Mailyn: He's the one I pity the fool woman he finally ends up with. Instead of a partner I'm afraid she'll be getting a son. I've tried though - I really have!

Kyahgirl: I prefer to get them at Walmart and although it's a good selection, still I am forced sometimes to get them at Chapters.

Rosie: The thing about Peter Pan sons is they are so charming and boyish. But still - mine is 28 so there's a good deal of frustration mixed in with it too :)
