Well crappity crap crap crap with a darn for good measure!!

I checked my email at work - bad worker bee that I am - and noticed there is a coupon for $1 off select books for a limited time only. When I clicked on it to see what books were select, one of the is the latest In Death book. It's already only $9.99 for the E version for a savings of 63%. Add to that a $1.00 coupon and how can I possibly NOT get it.

So what's the problem you ask?? Why are you bitching about such a squeal of a deal on a series you love To Death (heh, heh, heh - get it?) Are you nucking futs?????

Well - I've been collecting this series way back starting with Naked in Death. When they switched to hardcover I wasn't happy - it interrupted the flow so to speak of the shelf. Added to that it's a lot more money in hardcover than paperback. But buying online cut the price considerably. But now it's in an impossible to resist e version so my run of paper books comes to an end. Starting with this one, no longer can I look on my In Death specific book shelf.

It's like the end of an era is what it is. I'm one of those who despite having an ereader, still deep at heart, loves the print books. Maybe it's the fear of Farenheight 451 coming out - the ultimate and eventual end of paper books. Yes, I'm sure I'm making a mountain out of a moehill and should be happy that once I get home I'll have instant gratification at a really excellent price - but stil........

I wouldn't be able to do it... I want my series in physical form and even if buy one in ebook, I still want the paper format. Not really saving any money!

You know what to do, Kristie? Buy it in e-book version now and a couple of years, when it's going to be in the deal section at 5-6$, pick it up :)

And I agree with Kailana, you're better than me :) My favorite series, I'm still getting them in paperback.

I might burn in hell for suggesting this - but I'd buy it in e because that price is just too good to pass up....and then I'd pick up a paper copy later to add to my collection. Either a used hard cover edition, or a new mmpb when it gets reprinted.....

But if it's a total squeeworthy keeper? I'd probably buy the hard cover new. I'm one of those sickos who likes having "tangible" keepers. The feeling a keeper inspires in me just seems to demand a paper copy in my mind.

okay,I totally agree except backwards. I started reading the series with the first hardback and then started my collection only to find that the previous ones were paperback. I agree that the shelf looks funny so I've improvised (along with the anthologies).
I'm just as bad!! about these as I have both the physical & e versions of all of them... except the last two which I'm still working on.

I bought the last one in "E" and it cost $14.99. This time I used my Chapters gift card (airmiles) instead. Didn't have all of it b/c I also bought season 2 of Castle but still more off.

One of my biggest complaints about kobo is their "select books". Usually they are "same old, same old". Now if they did "any book" I'd buy more.

Still leaning towards getting a kindle for my birthday.

Think of it as paper burns but bits and bytes are forever crisp and neat and easy to dust.

But Teddy - if I ever manage to crash my Kobo - and believe me, I am quite capable of doing such a thing - I won't have this one as a back-up! And I have this one special In Death shelf - right in the middle of the bookcase in the living room......

Farmwifetwo - They don't always have the best choices in their special select books I've noticed. But when I saw the latest In Death book, my immediate reaction for some reason really was 'oh crap!' Odd, I know!

Gina: Hello!! And Welcome!! I hear you! I was most bummed when they started coming out in hardcover 'cause it ruined 'the line' but then I found a hardcover copy of Naked in Death at this incredible price - something like $4.99 and thought 'well, that's not too bad. I can get them to match in hardcover then.' But I never did see that many more come out in hardcover. So now my shelf if really lumpy. I though of evening it out and putting some of the hardcovers at the front end and some at the back end. But then it offends my sense of making sure they are in the right published order! I can't win for trying!

Wendy: LOL - at this point in time, I've already downloaded the e version. But I can't get a paper copy because then my shelves real really be out of whack - unless I go and buy all the hardcover copies in pb - and then that get's expensive - to costly just to be anal *g*.

Nath: I think that's going to be my answer. I have noticed a few years down the line they have them in the reduced rack. Of course I already have them 'cause I couldn't wait that long to get me a copy. But from here on it, I shall just have to have patience - years worth of patience - but hopefully I can do it

Kailana: See - it was nasty of what they did wasn't it? You can see my dilemma can't you? If it hadn't had a coupon I might have been able to resist. But I figure if I use the coupon then they are more likely to send me more down the road. I just sort of wish it hadn't been for that book in particular though! The In Death are the ONLY books (well - strike that - Linda Howard also qualifies) that I buy in hardcover and they took that away. I know, I know - what a stupid thing to complain about isn't it?

Farmwifetwo and Kristie: In most cases (at least on the Canadian Kobo site) you can use the Kobo discounts on books other than the "selected list" that they give you when you click on the discount window. I have found that, in most cases, if a books shows a list price and and "our price" for the book, the discount codes will apply. I have been very happy since I found this out, but my wallet hasn't :).

This!!!!

And I don't mind the bumpy shelves, myself  what with the anthologies being all mmpb anyway...

AHAAA!! I knew it! There are readers who need the paper copy if it's a keeper! This eases the pain of not buying a Kindle for now ;)

And I'm lucky in that I don't shelve my books by author or series. I put all hardbacks together and then all paperbacks all over. There is only one section of my library that has consistency and that's the Anne Stuart shelf. Turns out when I need a Stuart, I don't want to have to dig for it.
