It hurts!

It hurts real bad! I didn't hear about this until just now. But - it couldn't have happened to a better pitcher.

We watched it from the 7th inning on :) My Man handled it surprisingly well...

And holy cow! I can't believe there have been TWO perfect games this year - both in the month of May. Just....amazing!

Well, as a Phillies Phan, I am naturally ecstatic and thrilled. It was a thing of beauty and as you say, it couldn't have happened to a better person.

Very nice of you, Kristie, to post about it since he is no longer a Blue Jay. I would've, but I am so far behind trying to post about quilts and books. Sheesh!

Phyl: I was thinking of you when I heard about his perfect game. Although I don't follow the Phillies, I do enough to know that he's really doing good for you. And after that one game that he lost 1-0, I think it's wonderful he pitched a perfect game. But it is a bitter pill that he's no longer with the Jays. He really was hidden with them but now he's getting the recognition from other fans now too.

Wendy: I don't know if you heard or not, but Philadelphia was supposed to come to Toronto to play a series in a week or couple of weeks and we were really hoping to see him again. But because of the G-8 conference they are holding in Toronto, the games are being played in Philadelphia. Now, not only do we lose him, but we lose a chance to see him pitch this year!!
And good for Your Man. Even though Doc is playing for another team now, he's still loved in TO - at least I think he is :-)

That's going to be a weird series in June. Toronto will be the "home" team wearing their whites & batting last. Toronto also gets a huge chunk of the revenue, and since the Phillies have a gazillion straight sell-outs, I don't blame the Toronto brass for moving the game. But, yeah, it hurts the local fans. I hear Toronto had planned a ceremony for Roy & they've requested that MLB schedule the Phillies for Toronto again in 2011 so they can do the ceremony then.

Yeah, it sucks for the Toronto fans - but I can understand why MLB decided to move the game. The last several G8 conferences have seen some monster protests. I imagine security is already a major concern. No need to toss some baseball games into the mix.

But yeah, it really does suck for Blue Jays fans :(

Phyl: I don't blame them for moving it either - the summit is pretty close to the ball park. But I sure wish they had moved the summit to Philadelphia instead of the series :-(

Wendy - I don't think it was MLB - it was the owners of the Blue Jays who requested the move

Hi Kristi(J),

Doc is definitely the best pitcher in baseball, period. I'm just glad he's out of the American League. He killed the Yankees every time! (I know, everybody hates the Yankees...)

But good for him :)

Hi Kristie. I missed it! I'm not a Phillies Fan like Phyl but as a baseball fan, I can certainly appreciate a perfect game. Good for him!

You'd think, though, that close to a billion dollars in security would buy a couple of baseball games.

Much better for my mood to celebrate amazing feats of baseball than to dwell on politics. I can't believe this happened twice in one year!

I'm guessing this means that the opposing team didn't score any runs? Sorry, baseball isn't really played here so I'm kind of cluess *grin*
