Stuff

Well - I jumped in the deep end. I just signed up to attend RomCon. I booked time of work, I booked a flight and reserved a room. The only thing left to do is arrange for transportation to the Detroit airport. It's short - only 3 days - but there are a lot of people going I'd love to meet and see.

And I'll try my new plans on the book signing and see how it works out *g*.

*~*~*~*~*

I heard from Chapters last night. My Kobo shipped!! I'm having it sent to the store since they want someone to sign for it and there's no one here during the day to do that. Brent doesn't move in until *heavy sigh* Sunday.
Now I have a new learning curve to try and tackle. *gulp* Hopefully they will call either tomorrow or Friday to say it's arrived.

*~*~*~*~*

Brent's moving in on Sunday - or Monday - I think. This should prove very interesting. A (air quote) Draaaama King air quote and a (air quote) Draaaaama Queen (air quote) living in the same house. If nothing else, I should have some interesting stories to tell. The only salvation for us out dramatizing each other is he works a lot of afternoons.

*~*~*~*~*

I lost a tooth yesterday. That was most odd. A number of years ago now, I decided it would be good to put chocolate chips in rice pudding - a nice change from raisins. I love crunchies in my food - as long as they are edible crunchies that is. I bit down to hard and cracked a tooth. I had to have a root canal - which actually went surprising well - didn't feel a thing - except they used my chest as an instrument table - and I drooled the whole time. After that I had to have a crown put on. Ron's dental plan only covered half the price of the crown and I ended up paying over $500!!! All for a @&^%#!*& chocolate chip!!

Well, a couple of months ago, the crown fell off. And the dental plan I have doesn't cover any bit of crowns! It used to, but it seems we gave it up to get a higher pay raise. The pay raise doesn't look quite so good now. All I had left was a stump of a tooth. I kept meaning to go back to the dentist - but since I'm a great procrastinator, put it off. Well, I was brushing my teeth just before work yesterday and the stump fell out. I'm not sure what to do, but I'm willing to bet that the dentist isn't going to be very happy with me.

Luckily though - since I had a root canal, I didn't feel any pain whatsoever when it fell out. But now there's a large gap where my tooth stump used to be.

From my understanding, your only option now is to have a false tooth put in and I hear that it is INCREDIBLY expensive. However, if you dont do it, your teeth will start moving (because they have more room now) and eventually you will start having other teeth issues later on. Which could mean more root canals, dentures etc. But seriously, I may have no clue what i'm talking about. My mom and I discussed this just a few months back. Sorry this happened. yuck! Oh, but your going to RomCon so i'm a little jealous of you!!!!!!!!

Kristie (J), I'll be attending RomCon this summer too - I was one of the winner of Dear Author Giveaway. This will be my first time at any "romance" convention, and I'm so excited because it's a gift to myself for graduating from nursing school. It'll be so nice to meet you because I've been lurking on your board for almost four years.

Sotheara: What a great reward to yourself!! And I work with a group of nurses - and each one of us team assistants have our 'own' case manager/nurse in particular and every one of us loves them to pieces. We were talking not long ago about switching up case managers and while I love them all - as do the rest of us - none of us were willing to give our own up *g*.
One of the best things about conferences/conventions is meeting other readers in person. There's this magical connection based on the love of a good romance *g*. I look forward to meeting you too! I notice there are a couple of workshops for bloggers. I shall be at them with bells on my toes. Well, not literally, but you know what I mean.

Nicole: *sigh* I'm going to have to make a dentist appointment - the sooner the better. But I just know he's not going to be happy with me. Heck - I get scolded every time for not flossing enough!! I can only imagine what he'll say to losing a tooth!

Good luck with your books signing strategy. Better to arrive late than to be freaked out.

I had a tooth go bad a few years ago, and my dentist advised to have it pulled (it was in the back, on the side I don't chew on) rather than go the expensive root canal route. Be glad yours just fell out, because once the novacaine wore off, my pain level shot through the roof (I hadn't bothered to get the pain med Rx filled, because I'm an idiot at times).

If your tooth was in a place like mine, odds are the dentist won't need to do anything.

Karen: The tooth that fell out is on the top. A couple of years ago I had another one on the bottom that went bad too. This time rather than the crown and root canal, the dentist suggested pulling it out. I'd rather have gone for the root canal!! Although it was frozen, when he pulled it, all the grinding and pulling totally freaked me out. The dentist - with it half out already - asked me if I wanted him to stop. I did, but since it was already half out he finished. But I said to myself then I would never have another one pulled again. I didn't realize at the time, that the next one to go would fall out on it's own *g*.

My guess is that your dentist will give you a partial.

I had to have TWO crowns done this year. TWO!!!!! Ugh! And while I didn't have root canals, the crowns alone tapped out my dental insurance for the rest of the year. Bugger.
