This and That

After my whine of yesterday, no the matter isn’t cleared up and I didn’t sleep very well again last night, but I’m not going to focus on it.  Instead I’ll let my mind wander where it will.

It came!!  It came!!  I woke up this morning and Roseanne Bittner’s Outlaw Hearts loaded up on my IPad.  I shall be busy reading for the next few days.

Yes, at times I can be a screaming fan girl.  Not often mind you, but on occasion.

Thank goodness SYTYCD was last night.

There are a few of us who tweet while it’s on and it’s ever so fun, much more than joining the thousands and thousands who tweet using hashtag SYTYCD.  That can be the problem with Twitter during popular shows, you just get lost.  But I like the intimate feel of me and my own fellow SYTYCD peeps.  We can all keep up with what we all think of the dancers.  Last night was quite good.  It’s a different format this year and while I do miss LOUD Mary Murphy, Paula Abdulla wasn’t that bad; much better than she was towards the end of her AI run.  And Jason Derulo is quite good.  I don’t know if they are going to go with guest judges like they did in past years or not.  But I’d be fine if they stayed with the 3 they have.

I’m still not liking my hair.  It’s been a couple of weeks now since I got a lot chopped off.  Usually by now I’ve figured out how to style a new doo so I like it – but not this time *heavy sigh*

I hates those moving GIF thingies.
They seem to be all the rage but – and this is just my opinion – they are stupid and distracting and they bother my eyes.  I would much rather just have a straight picture then something that moves for 6 seconds or so then goes back.  GoodReads seems to be a breeding ground for them and I’ll be honest.  If I’m trying to read a review that contains them, I’ll just skip it.  GoodReads was bad enough, but now I’m starting to find them on other romance sites I like to visit.  I wish people would stop using them.

Well, it’s time to head home now so this is a short one.

‘til later

As it slowly draws to an end.........

One of the biggest bummers about breaking the leg was not being able to keep up with So You Think You Can Dance Canada. I was so excited about it but then..... the break. I didn't have TV in my room; it cost too much, so I could only follow it online and it wasn't nearly the same. Plus much of my enthusiasm waned in the other thrill of events.

But I've caught the fever again. And luckily, as in Season I, there has been one dancer in particular that is skilled beyond belief and even better, makes the bell ring on my crush-oh-meter. I've been aware of him since his audition which blew me away, not to mention the lust that kind of crept in.

Now I'm not going to post all his dances, that would take too long and if you do want to see more, here is his "official" site. But here are a few of my favourites. Warning though - close before Leah comes up as she is without question, one of the MOST ANNOYING "hostess" of any show - ever.

This is one of my favourites and he cracks me up at the beginning when he says he is funny in such a deadpan kind of way.

And just watch him move in this dance!!!!

Now this next one is my favourite of the whole season. I can't tell you how many times I've watched it already. In a way it's more of a dance for the woman (Danielle) but if you watch it, you can see what an incredible partner he is. (now if this were to be made into a romance novel, he would have been so torn about having to give her the news and in three years hasn't been able to forget her. He's no longer in the military, but has opened up his own detective agency. Because he hasn't been able to forget her, when a case draws him to the town she lives in, he drives by her house to see her one last time, only to realize that she is being stalked by some psychopath and he stays to save her - and of course they fall in love)

Now these next couple are from the final show where it was down to 4 dancers. The choreographers in the first dance include Nico - the winner of the first season and one of my "crushes"

The second is a Salsa - not a dance I care for really, but just look at him take dance steps while lifting Amanda overhead - amazing!!

Now his bio is truly impressive. His full name is Denys Drozdyuk and he's originally from the Ukraine. He came to Canada but then moved to Germany to study ball room dance. He was World Ballroom Champion for a few years before attending Julliard.

The show is almost over for the season though. We find out tomorrow night who the winner is. I have my fingers crossed and I know I voted almost non stop for two hours - nope not much of a life these days heh, heh, heh. I really hope it's Denys. They haven't announced yet whether there will be a tour but I really hope there is since London has been a stop the past two years.

And speaking of former crush Nico - here is one of his final dances.

So You Think You Can Dance

What the HELL was THAT????

I adore this show!! I discovered it the year Joshua won and haven't missed a single show since - either the US or Canadian version. I VOTED non-top two hours straight during the season Nico was on - confession time - mostly for him - but for others too.

Last Wednesday I was at a pot luck for my team at work and missed the show that came on at 8:00 pm so I stayed up until 1:00 am - way past my bed time - so I could catch it on a West Coast station.

I love it, love it, love it, love it!!

But I'm sitting here stunned, almost without words at what happened tonight. It was the final night of dance and.......

  • What the hell was it with 6 dancers??? It's only supposed to be four! That was SO wrong!

  • It was only on for an hour!!! All season long it's been a two-hour show. I block two hours out of my Tuesday nights just for SYTYCD. What the hell?? One hour?? That was SO wrong!

  • Could they have rushed through it any faster???? Even me - who never notices these things, could tell they edited the hell out of it. That was SO wrong!

  • I was surfing through the commercials. When I turned back to the station, they were already into the dance! No long introduction! That was SO wrong!

  • They didn't have a men's group dance and then a women's group dance. The ALWAYS have that. That was SO wrong!

  • There was no pre-dance stuff. They almost always have that - where we see the dancers working with the choreographers. Not having that - that was SO wrong!

  • They barely even showed the choreographers. We've seen them all season long and I'll admit - on the Canadian version I had myself a little drinking game every time Jean Marc said to give it up for (whoever) choreographed the dance. I was sloshed every week.(OK - I made that up but you get the point). But to not even show the choreographers. That was SO wrong!

  • They barely talked to the dancers. Well - I'm thinking they did - but it was all edited out. That was SO wrong.

I have invested so much time, so much excitement, so much love into this show - to have it reduced to the piece of shit that was tonight's show; I am really, really, really pissed off. I don't have the words to explain how robbed I feel at the moment.

I've been quite impressed with this season's group of dancers. Some of them have awed me and I can't remember in all the seasons I've watched it, being so impressed with so many. To have it 'end' in this way - well it's just all SO SO wrong.

Oh yea - and the Jays traded The Doc - Roy Halladay to Philadelphia today. It hasn't been a good day. The only consolation is he didn't go to the Yankees or the Red Sox. But still....

So You Think You Can Dance

So - I've been watching and loving this show. They are such a talented group of dancers, I hate so see any of them leave.

Alas though - there is no Nico types.

But for those fellow Nico fans, such as Carrie - you can see he did away with the Mohawk. I kind of miss it :-(

I LOVE Enya and this was from a few weeks ago and is probably my favourite so far. Sadly, both Asuka and Vitolio are gone now *sigh*

Here is another one I quite enjoyed

And I always love the group dances

And I think Randi and Evan are adorable

(you can tell I just hit the motherload on YouTube *g*)
(really this is just and excuse to post pics of Nico)
