Keeping up with the Jones

Or - in this case keeping up with the So Cal bloggers. You may or not have heard that they had a big meet-up on Sunday and it sounds like they had a blast on the weekend - just look at all their smiling faces!!

So I think it's time us Canadian Bloggers got together again!! I've already been in touch with a few and they are all for it. We did it a couple of years ago and had a BLAST!! And now that there are more of us, we could have an even better time!

I'm thinking Toronto or somewhere close sometime in May or June. And this of course, also goes out to any of our neighbours to the south who live close and want to be honourary Canadians for a weekend. The advantages - adding the letter U to many words and pronouncing Zee as Zed!! Who can possibly turn down those perks?
I speak from experience when I say there is nothing like meeting fellow bloggers in person. There is this instant connection that's almost impossible to describe.
So - if anyone is interested - either make a comment or feel free to email me :-)

LOL! I JUST commented back to you on my blog about the Cali girls having all the fun! I love the picture, they all look like they had a great time!! :D

Ohh, oh, I'm south! I'm south! Only an hour and a half I think :). If you made the location NOT in downtown Toronto I would love to visit! LOL

Amy: That's not even as far away as me!! I'm two hours away from TO!! And as for not in downtown Toronto - I'm fine with that - in fact I think I like it a bit better since this time I was thinking of driving but driving in downtown Toronto - not gonna happen :)
I'm just in the thinking/planning stages so all ideas are welcome :)

Barbara: I think we should almost plan a North American blogger meet-up sometime - wouldn't that be incredible?

Go Kristie! Would you be surprised to know that you and BROKEN WING came up in conversation yesterday?

Well I'm in :) I don't mind it not being in downtown Toronto, but somewhere in that area would be good :)

Lori said...

Awesome! Have a blast, you guys!!

Rosie: *laughing* In a good way I hope - not in a 'that kristie is a nutbar and needs to get a life' kind of way :)

Nath: I'm thinking in the outlying area. Somewhere near a BIG Chapters and great restaurants. They have a pretty good subway system so we could use that. And I was also thinking of maybe another trip to Medieval Times - since "our" knight won last time!!

Lori: Well - hopefully you and the rest of the SoCal bloggers can be an inspiration for more of us to meet up and get to know each other in person as well as in Blogger world.

OMG - Kristie, I just about spit out my morning caffeine. I can attest that none of us called you a nutbar.

And go you! Yes, the Canadian bloggers should get together! Nothing finer than meeting blogging buds in person, I say.

What a great idea, Kristie, for you all to get together! I would love to see pictures and hear all about it! And yes, Amy...that's not that far at all.

Thanks for posting our pic! :)

Right on, Kristie! I hope to see pics of the Great Northern get-together, soon!

And, I'm the lucky one who got Broken Wing in the parking lot free for all. :-)

I think all of you Canadian bloggers should come here to Cali and we should join forces for a HUGE meetup. Come on..you know you want to! ;)

Joking aside, I'm so glad y'all are able to meet up. As us Californians can attest, it's wonderful being able to meet with like minded women and let our hair down. I can't wait to do it again.

But one of these days, we'll all get together. Sometime...

Is that intended as a purely romance-blogger thing?
Which would be fine - I'm just checking. :-)

Well, where ever you decide to have it, as long as it's not too awful difficult for me to find, I don't see any reason why me and my mom can't take the day to drive up there :). Of course, I wonder when the law passes that you need a special drivers license or passport to cross the border. Hopefully not before then.

Is Cindy's pool gonna be open? LOL

Did you hear that Ames? It was my pool calling to you and Nath ;) In.

Hmmm... I'm not TOO far from Toronto. If I have a good long romance on audio going when you meet, count me in!

Hope all is well with you Kristie!

nath said...

LOL, well Kristie, wherever you decide, I'm fine :) I'm going to crash over at Cindy and enjoy her pool...

Cindy, is your pool heated? LOL, in case we do the meet in May :)

CindyS said...

Yep, we do have a heater - I'm hoping June - even early June for a meet up - does that work for anyone?

We have a Chapters 5 minutes away with restaurants galore - a new Inidigo about 20 minutes away - Burlington has two of the 'nicest' used bookstores and is about 1/2 hr away. Toronto is an hours drive - but can easily drop people at train station to take train in - just in case my anxiety is high.

This is an awesome idea! I would love to come, but Toronto is actually far away from little ole east coast me! If the economy wasn't so bad, I would be in for sure! Maybe I can come next time. (There better be a next time!)

Wendy: *g* just for the record - I don't consider being a nutbar a bad thing. I love nuts - I wish I could have nuts in all my food and *laughing* it does make one different. There's one girl at work who keeps telling me I'm insane and I consider it a compliment.

Tracy: You all look so happy and I'm so envious and it really made me miss you all even more.

Renee: Well you know what it means then don't you? You have to read it and weigh in with your opinion on Broken Wing - and I will be checking ;)

Holly: Oh yes! I do want to. But alas, distance, money and a job keep me from you. But I think a more central meet up with as many as can make it would be fabulous!

M: Well - that's the thing we all have most in common and that's the thing we would probably spend most of the time talking about. People overhearing us would probably think we are talking about real people. So if you don't mind romance talk - then the more the merrier!

Amy: I don't know if you have to have a passport to get into Canada or not. I know if you fly from Canada into the States you have to have one - but I think you can still drive if you have photo ID. So I'm thinking you would be able to come across.

Ames: I think it might be almost a tie with you and Nath coming the furthest - with you slightly ahead. But it would be great for the two of you to meet in the middle :)

Cindy: And I still need to take a dip in your pool :) Specially now that you and Bob have made it look so nice!

Jessica: That would be GREAT if you could make it!! I don't know if you read the Stephanie Plum books or not - but I know some of them are on tape - and they are so funny, you would be laughing all the way!

Cindy: Early June works for me - and what about if we make it Hamilton? That's right next door to you and close enough for a swim in your pool and a trip to the bookstores - and close enough to Toronto if we want to go to the BIG CITY.
I plan to get a GPS so it will be my first time playing with it!

Oh that is so cool! I want to be brave enough to show up but I would likely be tongue-tied amongst y'all super-well-read-bloggers! Maybe someday... when it's on the west coast!? Go girls (and guys?)!

Kristie (J) said...

Kailana: You have a deal!! It's too bad you live so far away - but next time ;-)

Allison: Actually you would probably be amazed at how shy many of us are - including me! But when you meet with another romance blogger, right away you have something that's very important to you in common and there really is an instant connection. Just start talking books and it clears up a lot of the shyness right away. Hopefully you can make it some time and you will see for yourself!

If we go with a Toronto location, I should be able to come if you hold it during July. Specifically sometime between the 10-13; there's a convention that weekend and it's the only time I'll be able to get out there from Winnipeg.

If that's not a good option for anyone else, though, have fun! Take lots of pictures!

~ames~ said...

Anna/ocelott - There are quite a few of us Winnipeg bloggers. :P

Maybe we should do a Western Canadian bloggers meet up one of these days.

Kristie (J) said...

Anna: :-( July won't work for me - I've something else going on then. But I do indeed encourage you to have a Western Canada meet!! I've met Ames and she is a great and fun person. And who knows what the future might hold ;-)

I'm an omnivore, actually. But some species of romance or other forms 50-75% of what I go through.
