You're never too old to learn new tricks!!

Oldest son Brent was over last night - as an aside it was nice to spend a Friday night with him - weird but nice - and he was showing me some videos on YouTube and I learned something I did not know!!!

If you watch the video on YouTube itself and click the little square box on the bottom right hand corner - the one between the triangle box and the speaker box, the video plays on the whole screen!! When I saw him enlarge the first video, I got all excited and asked him how he made it do that, so he told me. So of course - me being me - after he left, checked it out on the second North and South video on the left side bar.

The famous "KISS" in the famous 'TRAIN SCENE" up close and in slow motion - verra, verra nice!!

And speaking of North and South - Jessica - I'm still waiting to add you to the Crusader list!! I know you've wa-atched it. And anyone else whose watched it and want to do a review - it's been a while since there has been new blood.

And - just in case I'm not the only one who did not know this and wants to see what I'm talking about - here's the video

OMG - I LOVE YouTube!!!

Thanks to YouTube I have been in deep procastination mode taking a tour back through my younger days.
I never listen to oldies' music stations - I prefer to go no further back than the 80's, but I found some songs I loved when I was much younger. I'm not sure how many out there will remember these ones - but oh man - did they bring back memories. And believe it or not, I could still sing (and just did) many of them word for word

Here are just a few

This was always my favourite Herman's Hermits song. It wasn't as widely popular as some of the other ones - but I loved it

(and keep in mind this was back in the days when gay meant happy)

Here's another one I loved when I was a kid. I didn't found out until much later that Ron's nickname was Hazel - cause of his long (at the time) hair

And oh wow! Did I love this one when I was young and innocent

This is the one I'm most proud of being able to sing word for word without forgetting one single word

I could go on and on - but to spare you my own personal journey down memory lane, I'll just leave a couple more. I don't how long some have been visiting, but a while back I did a post on my crushes of yesteryear. One of the BIG ones I had was on a band in the 60's - Paul Revere and the Raiders. I had posters of this group all over my room - and Mark Lindsay in particular
*sigh* ah memories

(yes - we did used to dance like that. I wasn't quite as good as the go go dancers though.

And the quality isn't as good - but this was my favourite song by them - Hungry - as in I was hungry for Mark Lindsay in my young innocent teenage girl heart.
Katie saw these last night and would you believe she laughed at them? She LAUGHED at my Mark Lindsay! Humph.
(so did I)

And finally - some will know what I'm referring to - this is NOT the pirate and crew I was referring too.

This should put a smile on your face

I first saw this video a while ago at Smart Bitches. I was enchanted from the get go and although I hadn't seen that many of the movies, I still loved it.
Since then I've seen a few - North and South being among them (heh heh)
It's my mission to track down and see every one of them - well except for Tess of the D'ubervilles because I saw that one and it made me cry - in a sad way.
But this one is wonderful.
Enjoy

And as a bonus - free with no extra cost to you the reader, is another fun one

The saga of the door - and a treat

You may have noticed my lack of regular blogging lately. I'm not in the category of not blogging that some are (did that make sense?) but I normally do more than I have lately.

The door falling off threw me for quite a loop. Odd thing, but it was the culmination of a bunch of stuff. Ron had habit of repeating things to me in case I forgot (which to give him credit, I usually did). One of them was to make sure the back door was shut tight. I think he must have said that to me about 4 or 5 times a week - so it was the cuckoo thing all over again.

Anyway - the boys came over to visit on Sunday. Brent got there first and he could tell I was kinda depressed. Then Ryan came over and - well - we ended up having a bit of a tiff. I sat in the kitchen crying (trying to do it quietly - do you know how hard that is when you want to sob at the top of your lungs - it's tough!~) So the boys took pity on me and went out to get a door. Only trouble - the door they came back with - that I was expected to reimburse them for - is butt ugly!! I kind of had other doors picked out. Nice doors. Fancy doors. Girly doors if there is such a thing. But the door they came back with was such a guy door. Not a single curly swirl on it. It's just plain white with a screen at the top and boring old aluminum at the bottom.

And of course Brent had to leave before they got it on. Ryan tried valiantly to put it up. I offered to help but he is such a guy and said he didn't need help. Well - he got the frame up and then went to put the new door on. And the new door is too short. Now at this point I could have pointed out that he perhaps should have measured first. Or if they had taken me with them (silently sobbing) I could have picked one out for myself. But I was a good mama. I didn't say anything like that except thanks and wrote out a cheque.

So now he has decided to put the old (broken) door back on with new door hinges. But he needed someone strong(ger than me) to hold the door on. So until he gets hold of some friends or Brent, the second (new and ugly guy) door is sitting beside the (old broken) door in the kitchen.

In other news - although I've been having a bit of a rough patch - there has been good stuff. My picture supplying friend and I went to a Jann Arden concert Saturday night. I don't know how well known she is in the U.S. but she's a very good singer. And she's also very very funny! I thought I'd treat you all to a couple of her videos *g*.

First up - "Insensitive"

"I Would Die For You"
OK, OK - I know it's not her video - it's from Smallville - but it is a very nice song and she has a beautiful voice!

'til later
