Hello There!! It's been a while hasn't it

You have probably noticed a certain lack of presence from me lately. There are a few reasons for a lack of blogging. I don’t like this time of the year. I think I’ve blogged about it in the past, but I just find the ‘Christmas Season’…..difficult. Having said that though, I had a wonderful one this year as opposed to previous years. My sister and I were invited to spend Christmas Eve with Ryan’s fiancés parents home about an hours drive away. I met them briefly when, we shall call her Kay, was trying on wedding dresses. I had a nasty cold that day and wasn’t playing with a full deck so I didn’t catch their names. It was hilarious when I realized the day before that I was going to be spending the night with people whose names I couldn’t remember. It was a long story, including the fact that one of the Case Managers I work for, inadvertently requested to be friends with the OS on Facebook in order to find out the names of K’s parents – you had to be there. Anyway, Lisa and I had a great time and Christmas wasn’t nearly the horror it could have been. But I tend to hunker down and draw in the covers around this time of year.
I’m still wanting a cigarette at times – badly – and never more it seems than when I’m sitting in the computer room. I do have a laptop that I have in the kitchen, but the OS was constantly taking it and it got to be such a pain to keep asking him to bring it back. But now that he’s gone, I have the laptop at my disposal all the time.

And the third main reason I’ve been so scarce is I just haven’t been able to think of much of anything to blog about. Just as most of us go through reading slumps, I’ve been going through a blogging slump. But hopefully it will come to an end soon. In all the time I’ve been blogging this has never happened for this length of time. But a couple of things have occurred to me.
I think my experiment with longer hair is going to be coming to an end. I don’t know if it’s because it’s longer or I’m getting older, or the trauma my body went through when I broke my leg, or something seriously is the matter with me or my mind is playing nasty games on me; I’m hoping it’s the last one. But I seem to losing hair at an ALARMING rate! And I’m starting to get paranoid. Every day in the morning when I brush it, it seems chunks are coming out. You should see it when I wash my hair. I look at my scalp – half afraid to really look at it in case there are large hairless spots on it. I try telling myself that because it’s longer than it’s been in YEARS it’s just the length that makes it seem like I’m losing so much – but I think I’ll go back to short hair – just to ease my mind.

And yet another reason – I have excuse after excuse don’t I? – is sometimes I almost have too much to say and while my motto is why say in 10 words what you can say in 100, I am reminded by those around me who love me to ‘hurry up and get to the point!’ It may take a while to ‘get to the point, but I do try and make the journey most amusing. When I have too much, I’m not sure where to begin and I don’t want to scare visitors away by the ……length …. Of my posts. So I’m a tad afraid of scaring people with the length I can get too

And further to that piece that I didn't quite get around to posting, an update. I did indeed get shorn. And I LOVE it. It's supereasy to take care of and best of all I'm not freaking out every morning when I see the amount of hair that's fallen out.

Other random thoughts. One of my favourite shows these days until the return of SYTYCD just happens to be Hawaii Five O. And the actor who plays Steve McGarrett Alex O'Loughlin - well he sure does put Jack Lord (for anyone who remember the original show) to shame. I guess he was on another show a few years ago, Moonlight where he played a vampire. If I knew then when I know now - or rather saw then what I see now, I just may have watched that show. But I was wathcing another Vampire show at the time. And since I loved it, well, it would have been a very tough choice.

Anyway, the character he plays on Hawaii Five O is very intriguing, a former Navy Seal (a vampire and a Navy Seal - is it any wonder he seems to be the romantic hero typey *g*) But I was channel surfing the other day and saw he was in a movie with Jennifer Lopez, the back-up plan. *shudder That just seemed so wrong, rough tough Steve McGarret being the love interest of a pregnant J-Lo. That's just a random thought that's been going round my head lately.

In book news - I really need to do a summary of last years reads. Hopefully I won't take weeks to get around to it!

Hey, Kristie,
Welcome back! How is the leg now? The Monday after New Year's Day, I came down with a bug that caused heavy chest congestion and now am battling bronchitis. The infection and congestion are easing up, but my chest and abdominal muscles are SO sore from all the coughing and wheezing. Last night I had trouble falling asleep because of the noise from my wheezing.

I also LOVE the new Hawaii 5-0! The ensemble cast is just right. I really like Grace Park for her work in the more recent Battlestar Galactica series. Daniel Dae Kim is fabulous. Scott Caan is super. There are no words for GO, who was also on a short-lived CBS medical series [Three Rivers?]. I'm pretty sure that he is another Australian working an American accent. However, the part of the show that I like best is all that wonderful Hawaiian scenery.

Take care & God bless,
Kay

There is definitely something called a blogging slump! glad to see an update from you and that your Christmas wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Hey you! It's good to see an update on you. I was just thinking the other day that it's been awhile since I've seen an update here on your blog.

I'm glad to see that you enjoyed your visit with Kay's parents. =)

Big hugs and welcome back!

Wow, you hadn't blogged in a while. I would have been worried -but I got those e-mails from you...so I wasn't :)

Resist Kristie! Resist! You haven't had a cigarette in SO long. Hopefully having the laptop back full-time will help a lot. I've read that when smokers quit they need to "change things up" so as not to fall into old patterns. Like drinking your morning coffee in the living room if you're used to having a cup and a cig while sitting at the kitchen table.

And girl - the shedding is totally a long hair thing. I am WAY overdue for a cut and I've shed so much I should have saved it to weave an area rug. No lie.

Wendy: *laughing* No problem. I WILL resist. For me to start again would just be the height of stupidity and I'm a lot of things but stupid isn't one *g*. Here in Ontario we aren't allowed to smoke in any public buildings. The smoking area at work is right outside the lunchroom window and as I see them out there in winter - and it's been a nasty winter at times - all I can think is I am SO glad I don't do that anymore. Not to mention I've found all kinds of other things to do with the money I'm saving.
And at moments I thought when I saw all the hair that if I started saving it, I could make a wig out of it. I asked the hairdresser is she thought I was loosing too much, but she said no - my scalp looked normal - but when I saw all that hair every single day *shudder*

Rowena: Thanks!! And a big hug back. I didn't plan on staying away for so long - I don't think I've taken this many long breaks since I started blogging! And I will never, ever forget their names again - that's for sure.

Marg: I haven't really experienced a blogging slump since I started. I know other bloggers have had them but I never had until recently. I don't really like it much. :-(

Kay: The leg is good. I'm walking pretty much limp free. Now I'm working on trying to walk 'briskly' but not with much luck. I walk around the mall near me and everyone is passing me!!
And *laughing* with you also being a fan of Hawaii Five O, you can understand why I was so distressed at Steve McGarret being JLo's baby daddy *laughing*. I love all of the characters too and I'm glad to see that in this incarnation they made Kono female. I think Grace Park does a fine job. And Daniel Dae Kim really lucked out - Hawaii on Lost and now Hawaii on this show. I've never really wanted to visit Hawaii, but watching this show kind of makes me go hmmmmmm. It sure is a beautiful place isn't it?

Welcome back! You've been missed! I'm glad Christmas wasn't...horrible. I don't feel the Christmas spirit any more...it's just a day when I like to dig in and hide from everyone, mostly so I don't have to pretend to be perky or have everyone think I'm Scrooge!

The new look sounds fantastic! I bet because your hair was longer it was just easier to notice the hair you were losing :)

Happy reading!

Orannia: It's good to be back. Hopefully the unexpected break is over. Of course we are in a Very Slow time at work and much of it I'm doing from here *gulp*. I hate slow work days, but I need something to occupy my time until things pick up and what better way to do it then blog posts :-)

Hi Kristie!! *wave*

I'm so glad you had a good Christmas holiday this year. I know that the holidays are not your favorite times of the year... :)

No cigarette, Kristie! You can do it!!

And yeah, shedding hair is partly due to long hair. Although you still lose some with shorter hair, but I think less.

Agree about the shedding & long hair - I can tell when I'm over due for a trim because the shedding gets ridiculous!

Mmm... Alex O'Loughlin - the only reason I ever watched Moonlight. I'll have to give Hawaii Five O a look.

I haven't done my best of 2010 yet so you're not the only one running behind. :)

Kris if I were you I would go to the doctor. If you remember a few years back and you were losing hair and it turned out to be your thyroid. So I would go and have that checked to make sure everything is ok.
